How a propane fire pit table works

A propane fire pit table burns gas from a standard 20 lb tank, the same size used for most grills. The tank connects to the burner through the supplied hose and regulator. Open the tank valve, light the burner with the ignition and set the flame height with the control knob. Turn the knob off and the flame stops. There is no wood to buy or stack, no smoke in your eyes or clothes, and no ash to clean afterwards.

Placement and safety

Place the Alder on a level, non-combustible surface such as pavers, stone or concrete. Keep 5 ft of clearance from walls, deck railings, overhanging branches and anything that can burn. Use it outdoors only, in an open area. Close the tank valve after each use and keep the cover on between uses to protect the burner and the finish from rain and debris. The table is CSA certified for outdoor propane use.

Choosing a size for your patio

Measure the seating area before ordering. A 28" to 32" table suits two to four chairs. A 40" to 46" rectangular table sits in front of a sofa or between two sectionals and seats four to six. Leave at least 2 ft between the table edge and each seat so guests can move around, and keep 5 ft of open space above and around the flame.

How long does a 20 lb propane tank last on the Alder?

A 20 lb tank holds about 430,000 BTU. On a 50,000 BTU burner at full flame, that is roughly 8 to 9 hours. At lower settings it lasts longer.

Is the Alder hard to assemble?

Plan about 20 to 30 minutes with basic tools. The hose and regulator are supplied; connect the tank, check the connection for leaks with soapy water, and light it.

Can I use the Alder on a wood deck?

Only on a non-combustible surface with 5 ft of clearance from railings and walls. On a wood deck, place it on a fire-rated deck pad or a stone base.

How do I store the Alder in winter?

Disconnect and close the tank, let the table dry, and keep the protective cover on. Store the propane tank upright, outdoors, away from the house.

What does the warranty cover?

The 5-year Heatstone warranty covers the burner, control valve, ignition and structure. You also have 100 days to try the table at home and return it if it is not right.
